Aim circle size, smoothing and bone choice for MW4
Circle: How to set up MW4 aim assist so it helps your tracking without looking like a screen-snap. Starting values for 6v6, Ground War and DMZ.
The aim assist in this tool is built to ease onto a target, not teleport onto one. That’s a design choice, and it’s the reason your settings matter more than any other part of the menu.
The circle
Everything starts with the aim circle around your crosshair. Only operators inside it can be targeted. A large circle pulls the crosshair from far away and looks wrong on a killcam. A small circle just cleans up the last bit of tracking you were already doing.
Start small. Turn on “draw the aim circle” so you can see exactly what it covers, then widen it only if you find it ignoring fights you wanted help with.
Smoothing
This controls how quickly the crosshair settles onto a target. Fast looks mechanical. Slow looks like you’re tracking well. Begin on the slow side and speed up in small steps. Most people end up preferring slower than they first expected.
Head, upper chest or closest
- Head: highest reward, highest scrutiny if it’s constant.
- Upper chest: forgiving and still kills fast with most weapons.
- Closest: picks whatever is nearest your crosshair, which feels the most natural in messy fights.
A decent default is upper chest, switching to head only with long-range weapons where you’re already aligned.
The smaller options that matter
- Distance cap: keep it realistic for the mode. Long caps in a tight 6v6 map serve no purpose.
- Skip teammates: leave on.
- Skip downed operators: leave on, so it doesn’t drag your crosshair off a live enemy.
- Wall check: this is built in. It’s why you won’t see your aim pulling toward someone behind cover.
Starting points by mode
| Mode | Circle | Smoothing | Target |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6v6 close maps | Small | Medium-slow | Upper chest |
| Ground War | Small to medium | Slow | Closest |
| Hajin DMZ | Small | Slow | Upper chest |
Save your 6v6 setup and your DMZ setup as separate configs so you don’t retune every time you switch.
Keep it believable
Miss sometimes. Don’t prefire people you couldn’t know about. Turn the strength down in lobbies you’re already winning. No setting removes risk, and our risk guide is honest about that.
